This is the third book by Sheryl Letzgus McGinnis and her first children’s book. The book is a fictionalized version of her son Scott’s long battle with addiction and his ultimate death. The story is told with humor and pathos by the sassy but lovable family cat in a way that appeals to children and adults alike. The recommended reading age is 10 and up but some younger readers will also be able to read and understand it. It delivers the message that kids should not do drugs and it deals with death, not in a gory way, but with facts and language that kids can relate to.
